Afghanistan is a failed state and has been for the past 2 and arguably 3 decades. But a new commission has produced a new study that states the glaringly obvious. It will then be placed on the shelf with all the other studies warning of Afghanistan's perilous condition, and the international community and the U.S. still won't do what's needed.
What is needed? Billions and billions of dollars in reconstruction money. Along with around five more combat brigades, preferably U.S., with lots of helicopters. Oh, and some strategic patience, along the lines of maybe twenty years. What the hell, I guess we'll have to wait for the Chinese to take an interest.
